Everyone has a piece of advice that is kept close to heart. It becomes a part of their temperament. I wanted to explore the pieces of advice that have influenced me over the years by creating this abstract self portrait. The piece is intended to be brazen and cheeky (in an awkward or amusing way), but also genuinely solicitous (on a more serious note). Ninety-seven brief "sayings" are consciously assembled and then juxtaposed with an overabundance of still and moving Nature imagery. The result is an artistic statement that highlights the reality that giving/receiving advice can be overstimulation in itself, but when put in front of (literally) all the chaos of life it truly functions as the unwavering, trustworthy thread to follow. Hence, the benefits that come when you follow your own advice.
