Produced in cooperation with the State Agency for the Development and Community Affairs to illustrate the economic plight of many Vermont towns and the action of some citizens to bring economic opportunities to our depressed areas without disturbing Vermont's environment. Two towns are highlighted: 1) North Troy that suffered economic disaster when all the mills were closed taking away the primary source of income for most of the residents of this community, and 2) Randolph that faced unemployment for its citizens but took aggressive action in determination to survive economically. A young couple, Debbie Mason of North Troy and Roger Menier of Westfield are featured in the film. They illustrate the many young people of Vermont, who in the past, have had to leave the State in order to find suitable jobs in the large cities. Debbie and Roger are shown in the film as they were actually married, and we learn that they are not joining the exodus from the small towns, but that this couple is staying in Vermont.
