Interviews with Vermonters, some more recent immigrants, integrating their culture and heritage into the life of Vermont today. This film begins with a shot of a Cambodian man walking down a snowy street accompanied by children. His voice-over tells us that Vermont is much too cold; but it also tells the viewer that the program will not be dealing with a stereotypic view of the state. Including information from several cultural groups, each interviewee describes where they live in the state, and explains how their traditions have continued within their families and communities. Excerpts include a Barre stonecarver of Italian heritage, a Jewish shopkeeper's family from Vergennes, a trapper from a Native American background, a Lake Champlain river man, and a Dorset woman who continues the needlework traditions passed down by the women in her family.
A program of the Vermont Council on the Arts.
