In celebration of twenty years of broadcasting, Vermont ETV is putting on a special event auction featuring "large-ticket" items only. Called "Showcase 20" the event is being televised live from the Vermont ETV studios, and is the first time ever such an event is to be held. The public is invited to participate by phone during this fundraiser for public TV programming. Showcase 20 will feature quality items such as a diamond brooch from F.J. Preston and Son of Burlington; a solar sun room from Green Mountain Sunspaces Inc. of Essex Junction; five weekends at Montreal's Bonaventure Hilton International; an oil portrait on linen canvas by Peter Miller of Westford, Vt.; a cherry table with chairs and dinner services from Chellis Collins Furniture and Interiors of Barre; a modular desk unit from Dwyer Office Furniture of New Haven, Vt.; a wide screen TV from the SuperStore in Williston; a DecMate III Plus-System Computer from Digital Equipment Corporation in South Burlington; a handcrafted piece of jewelry from David Crandall Ltd. of Burlington; a cotton sofa and loveseat from Carriage House in Shelburne; a Jamestown Sterling solid marble bedroom suite from Kidder Newhouse and Wood & Kidder of Williston; a brick or concrete driveway from S.T. Griswold Company of Williston; and a sailboat and trailer from Canoe Imports, Inc. of Shelburne. "We're showcasing only the 'creme de la creme' on this night," says development director Lee Ann Lee. "We're making it a formal, black-tie event to give these items and donors a luxurious spotlight and added thanks," she said.
