This day-long event will bring together a group of roughly 60 high school students and their adult chaperones for an event with many different concentrations. Students will have the opportunity to be involved with workshops and discussions about media, public affairs, journalism, and politics led by Joe Merone, Senior Producer for Public Affairs at Vermont ETV; Maria Blackburn, Staff Writer at the Burlington Free Press; and Scott Campitelli, Director of Learning Services at Vermont ETV. Governor Howard Dean will then join the student press corps for a live press conference on subjects as diverse as gun control, funding public education, the environment, balancing the state budget, and health care. The live, one-hour program will include video stories produced by students in Barre, Middlebury, and Burlington, with follow-up questions from student producers and reporters. Chris Graff of the associated Press moderates the program.
